I've been working hard at ol' Wells Fargo. And, in spite of an economic recession, two robberies, my naturally un-salesman-like personality, my wife giving me the best kinds of candy for my candy jar, BYU loosing to TCU, and other disturbing and unfortunate events, I seem to be doing quite well in my job. Well enough in fact, that Brett, my new manager (to whom I owe a lot of credit for my success) called me about a week ago and told me that I was Wells Fargo's newest Personal Banker! That's a promotion, incase you didn't know. I was actually only a CSSR before (its not important what that stands for, its beneath me now to bother with such things). So I got a small raise which works out to be about a dollar an hour more.

"Another robbery!?" You say? Yeah, it seems the down-turn in the economy has caused a lot of desparate times, and we all know what those call for....
So maybe Ivy Place (the branch I work for) is returning to its former glory as the most robbed branch west of the Mississippi... or so the legend goes. Actually we're hoping not. But anyway, so right before closing yesterday, this guy walks in and Jake, one of our tellers greets him like we do everyone who walks in the door: "welcome to Wells Fargo!" He ignores Jake and walks over to Mayra, one of our female tellers. As he's walking to Mayra, Jake gathers up all her cash (not realizing the guy is trying to rob us) and sets it in one of the vault-machines that makes us a "cashless" branch.

The would-be robber lays a note in front of Mayra that says something like "don't talk to anyone, don't push any buttons." He didn't show any weapons, and was shaking with nervousness. Another female teller, Johnnie walked up to Mayra right then with her coin tray. The guy kept repeating "give me the money." Mayra didn't know what to do other than say she didn't have any money, so Johnnie offered her coin, and said that was all she had. When Jake realized Mayra hadn't pushed ENTER on her keyboard to tell the vault machine to suck the cash inside, he walked the 3-steps back to her. Seeing the note and the shaking "robber," Jake just figured he'd go to the drivethrough window, which

is separated by a wall from the interior teller windows, and push the emergency button there. The guy, who'd avoided going to Jake in the first place, turned and ran out the door.
He didn't have a disguise, or gloves, or anything like the last scary guy, so they got good pictures of him and the police got some nice finger/hand prints. They'll probably catch him, I just wish they'd catch the last guy. He had a gun and got away with some cash, he creeped me out. But he was smart enough, I don't think they have much to go off.
Anyway, love you all. Hope you'll start using this blog! Just click the "comments" link a little below here to give me feedback on my post (like "reply" on an email).
I'm not sure any of you even read this. But in case you wanted to know: they caught the attempted robber. I think at least one teller will have to testify, & the other two will pick him out of a photo lineup.
